Fan Art September 9, 2009
Featured Submission

KAM
Kingdom Hearts
090909

Two updates in two weeks! That's something we haven't seen in a while in Fan Art. This is a good moment to rejoice. I had some free time today, and last week's column was updated on Wednesday, so I told myself 'why not'. Then I noticed it's 09/09/09. Isn't it funny? Schoolwork is starting to pile up! I'm not late, but it's not impossible.

Featured this week is a pencil drawing by KAM, whose latest submission dates from a while ago. Drawn with pencils, it is very colorful and smooth, especially the light reflection on the hair. The character is well-drawn and the line work is crisp and varied. The outlining is thick, while the details are thin.

Last week I forgot to update Wein's picture. A few weeks ago he sent a bunch to me, but I prefer spreading them through several weeks instead of making a full update. This submission is quite different from the others. Next to Wein's other pictures, this one looks a little messy, much like a rough sketch. It definitely lacks contrast, which would help the eye navigate through the image.

The last submission for this week is from Crisis Core. To celebrate the beginning of school, Zack trades his giant sword for an umbrella and goes to the beach! I don't know about you, but September has been a lotwarmer and sunnier than June and July were. I haven't seen mixed media a lot since I've been in charge of Fan Art, but it's always interesting. Integrating elements from different sources can be risky, but this works well. Thank you for your submission and please send more!

That's all we have for this week. Once again, there are no comics, so you'll have to wait a little more. I will take this opportunity to remind you that I need more submissions. If you see an interesting webcomic, or if you are making one, don't hesitate and send me a message, I will look at it and see with the artist if we can feature it here. Also please don't forget we are still accepting themes submissions, so send in those wallpapers! See you next week!
