Made in Québec
Tomorrow is Québec's national holiday! I probably won't be doing anything special, though, because it's much more about people getting drunk than anything else. I still haven't managed to fix my internet problem, but progress is being made. This week, I have played Mother 3, and have made progress, and I have also explored Knights in the Nightmare a bit, and I have finally started my Persona 4 game. I'm playing on easy, as I do not care for hard battles; I've had my share of difficulty in other games. I've received quite a few submissions lately, and I'm posting them all, hoping I'll have something new next week for you in the mail box. Here is what Fan Art's artists have to offer you today. In the spotlight this week is a wonderful drawing by Dice, who we haven't seen for a long time. This submission is quite large and stars 15 characters from Final Fantasy VI. There are a few things to see in there, and the characters, although rather small, are well detailed, and fans of the game will recognize parts from the game in the characters. If you don't feel like searching, Dice has listed interesting points about each character in the artist's comment. My one complaint about this picture is that I would have liked to see a Dice-made Strago portrait instead of the in-game one. This next picture is TomR's latest work, and it is much more colorful and bright than any of his previous works. It is also the one with the most detailed background. The light and smoke effects are beautiful, and the detailed character is well rendered, even if it confuses me a bit. This week also sees the return of Noreen Rana, with a brand new submission from a game that's never been covered in fan art before. How nice is that? Okay, so this is quite a warm drawing, color-wise and subject-wise, if you see what I mean! Anyway, the pose, texture and expression are all winners here. Don't miss this one! Now I haven't played Illusion of Gaia, so I'm not familiar with the scene or characters, but it looks quite funny. YoakeDAX's first submission to Fan Art is quite lively, featuring 6 characters and a cute little piggy, which is, by the way, my favorite character in the scene. This is an interesting picture with good character interaction, but I would have liked to see more variety in the colors. Wave likes Kingdom Hearts II, and we like Wave. So here's more Sora love for all you readers. The artist has, over the months since I've taken control of Fan Art, has proven unquestionable talent and eye for detail. This latest submission has it all: colors, dynamic pose, action-filled scene and dramatic angle. You can feel the movement! The perspective is perfect, too. Just look at it! This is it for the regular update. Coming up are the comics and themes submissions. Nothing special going on in the comic, except for the fact that FIGARO CASTLE IS BURNING!! I am happy to have a themes submission this week, and I'm even more happy that it's from VI. Remember that YES we still accept themes submission, and as you can see, I will post them here as I receive them. The reason we haven't seen any recently is because nobody sends them. Anyway, thanks for your readership, thanks for sending in drawings, and see you another time in the near future!
