On that day, 5 years ago...
Ok... so it's been a while. Last friday I missed the update for a third time. I feel bad about it, but of course it's not intentional. I sure hope everything gets fixed soon, because the situation is getting unbearable. I received but a handful of drawings, so unfortunately, even late, this update won't be large. Anyway, I just received Knights in the Nightmare, but I'm not sure which I should play first: Black Sigil or Knights? Under the spotlight this week is a brand new submission by TomR, who is endlessly taking his work to new heights. The artist wanted to add a spoiler warning, but I'm not feeling like I'm being spoiled by watching it, so I suggest looking at it anyway, especially if you are a fan of TomR's work. I like that the end result looks quite detailed despite the technique being rather pictorial, as opposed to a precise and linear style . There are very few lines, the artist defining the shapes with color, as he would carve clay to create a sculpture, and that is precisely the feeling this picture gives me: the shapes are strong and the shadows and highlights give it depth. A dramatic scene, to be sure, and a solid composition. Fans of Sephiroth: beware! The next picture could offend you. According to the description sent by the artist, this picture was made some 5 years ago as a submission for a contest. Now this is some unusual picture. I think mostly everybody knows that a costume needs to fit with the character, but if anyone still had doubts, let this submission be a proof. If Sephiroth was wearing that kind of costume in Final Fantasy VII, nobody would have taken him seriously, and he'd have no fans at all. If I had a suggestion to give to the artist, varying the thickness of the lines would come first. My question would be: why have Sephiroth's skin yellow? Lastly, I think Selphie's position is rather good, and Sephiroth's hair? Definitely a true Selphieroth. That's about all we have for this week. On our next update, more TomR and Dice's return after a long time without submitting. And, who knows, maybe even more submissions! Meanwhile, have a look at the comics. Locke is defending his honor while taking a classic pose, and Terra is still uncertain about her future. Thank you for reading, and pray that next week sees another update!
