3... 2... 1... 0!
Hello friends! I'm all happy because I found a way to fix my Super NES and thus continued my Final Fantasy VI game. I am now just at the end, ready to storm Kefka's tower. I'm still stuck with that Baldur's Gate problem, so I don't know when I'll be done with that. I might just skip to the sequel instead. This week we have three submissions, so let's have a look at those. Featured this week is another piece by Wave, titled Cloud vs Sephiroth. I like the composition in this one because the characters are placed one behind the other instead of next to each other, as it is often seen in confrontational pieces. The light effects are wonderful: just look at the reflections and green highlights here and there. The streams in the background add a lot of movement to the whole picture. JW sent in two submissions, the first of which is a mix between Final Fantasy XI and The Land Before Time. I watched the movie as a kid, so seeing this is quite funny. This picture, along with the next one, looks sketchier than JW's older works. Having lines on the characters only helps separae them from the background, but it creates the illusion that Petrie is levitating over the other characters. Good idea here! And, you know, I always thought they had long necks, too. This last piece is much more dramatic. I am not sure what happens in this scene exactly, but it looks definitely like a bad moment for the character. This is another sketchy drawing, though it looks more defined than the other one. I like the purple effect around the character and the crowns around him; without them, the drawing would look much flatter, as they suggest some perspective. Thank you for sending your drawings! Every week I'm afraid I'll have nothing to show to the readers, and then BAM! something pops up in the mail box. We'll be needing more submissions for next week, so please don't rest on your laurels. But before you sit down and enslave yourselves for Fan Art, have a look at the comics. These two pages are among my favorite so far. They show just how Orinocou has improved since the beginning of her project. Look at the poses, the facial expressions and the colors! I'm happy I found out about this comic, and am able to share it with the readers. Let's hope Orinocou continues to produce such a great comic, and just to be sure, please drop by her site and leave her a message or two! See you next week with, I hope, even more drawings!
