Fantasies are final
Here it goes! Another week has gone by, and Friday knocks at the door demanding more fan art. Fortunately we do have some fan art this week, but I can tell right away that next week will be a very small update if I don't receive anything! Anyway, the highlight of my gaming this week has been Final Fantasy VI. I am now just about to enter the opera house. The other games have shown little progress. Exciting, is it not? First this week is TomR's Lionheart piece, based on Squall's final attack. I like how the trail leads your eye through the picture. It's impressive how well you can demonstrate depth without an horizon line or any other reference. There are some really interesting things in this picture other than just depth. The high contrast between the dark and light areas is really bold, but I think what makes this piece so enigmatic is that the focus is centered on the light show rather than on the character. Here, Squall is nothing but a mass of dark colors secluded in a corner. Fitting for such a character, isn't it? Very interesting piece, and I hope to see more in the future! Boum continues her portrait series with Ramza. Colors are rather humble and discreet, but what I like here is the blury aspect of the sword compared to the character. This is clearly not only used to create a depth of field, but also to separate the different elements. Last of the week, Sandy's last entry in her L'Cie collection features Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII. This one is very colorful and detailed. Just look at all those jewels! I'd say her body looks a bit long, but other than that, anatomy is not bad and the face looks really good. Thank you for your submissions and please send more! This is it for this week. Check the comics because this week you get some fighting at last! Actually no, you don't. Next week will be somewhat violent, though, so prepare yourselves. I promised something last week but unfortunately my solution is not completed yet. It will come some time in the future. Have fun and tune in next week for more fan art. By the way, send in some submissions and keep in mind we are still accepting themes submissions!
