Lève-tôt

Hello everyone. Nothing special to report this week. Except I have a choice to make sometime soon and I don't want to have to choose. Anyway, I have continued my Final Fantasy VI game this week and continued my second play through of Rondo of Swords. That's about it. Now, let's discuss the art.

This week marks the return of Dahlieka, whose last submission was posted several months ago. It doesn't take more than a quick look at the artist's work to notice her drawings are richly textured, with strong contrasts. Archangel Tyrael is no exception, and the use of light is very expressive. Some parts of the drawing are over exposed, while others are almost pitch black. The textures are effectively evoking different materials, like metal or fabric.

First-time submitter Sandy begins her RPGamer fan artist with a series of three pictures from Final Fantasy XIII. First one is Lightning, seemingly floating in some magical light. She looks really light like that, and I think it would have been great to have her cape float a bit more to add some dynamism. There are a lot of details all over the character and her face is well done, especially for a position as hard to master as this one. My main concern would be that her right leg is a bit too long. The other two entries in her series will be posted in the following weeks.

Aurian's dragon from last week was inspired by this one, named Storm Dragon. Pretty similar to the other one, there are still some differences. The smoky background is interesting, although I would have liked to see a bit more contrast between the darkest and lightest parts. The blue looks incredible, especially on the thigh.

This last picture for this week is also the last of Red's pictures, what a coincidence. It is also the first Ogre Battle 64 fan art. It's another bookmark, this time apparently done with cheap markers. Well, they did their job well, and they look pretty bright. Unfortunately, these bookmarks sport no background. Red's previous submission was so colorful! My main concern here would be that the title is squished. It's not so bad on the first side, but it really shows on the second one.

That's it for this week, and please read the comics! This week, Arvis gets mad! Also, please remember to send in some submissions because I barely have enough for one or two updates. Frightening? I think so. Thank you for your readership, and see you in the forums to discuss this week's art.
