COLUMNTITLE
Hello, dear readers! It has been a busy weekend, so, of course, the update is late. During the past week I have finished Chrono Trigger a couple times, played an hour or two of Earthbound and that's about it. I received Persona 4 but I still have a lot to do before I allow myself to start it. This time of year can get crazy! Bring the art! Next, have a look at Aurian's latest summoned beast. Let's start with my main complaint: too small! Now that that's behind us, let's look at it more closely. Fire can get tricky to draw, especially with traditional mediums, but Aurian managed to get a cool effect. The textures look interesting, but they are lost in the small resolution. Although it is Ifrit's trademark pose, it is still dynamic and works well in the vertical composition. The different cave layers almost give a spiral feel to the general composition scheme, and the deep hole in the back helps define the beast's face, which is really a good thing. Red offers you his interpretation of Valvalis from Final Fantasy IV. Like the title suggests, she is the fiend of wind, which means she can control it. Well, that's a good thing because then she can control what her revealing clothes reveal to you. I like the use of bright colors and even if Red didn't ''draw wind'', the suggestion of it is convincing enough to make it work. Third this week is Lucas Cersaine's Disgaea picture. This is a pretty good black and white picture. I think one of the most important aspects of this kind of drawing is the line art itself. With no colors or shades of grey to suggest volumes and shadows, placing each line correctly and filling with black at the appropriate places is very important. Finally, enjoy Ishi's latest Chrono piece titled Lost Fragments, featuring Schala from Trigger and Kid from Cross. We don't get many ellipse-shaped compositions here so it is refreshing to have this one. I like when some elements escape the border. It makes the piece more lively. I have nothing against flat colors, but I think one character could have been more saturated in colors to set them apart. Well this is it for this week. I think the wallpaper has been posted in the past already, but oh well! Terra gets hurt while dropping a floor in the mines and falls in a flashback dream. I like that last panel, by the way. Have a good week, and make sure to send some pieces, because once again I'm going to be needing them.
