This list format seems to have caught on. Let me know if it gets annoying.
This Update. Lots of awesome submissions this update. Don't worry if you submitted and don't see your work. There's still quite a bit of backlog to work through.
The Paragraph Formerly Known As This One. A few updates ago, I put "Does anyone actually read this?" in the big paragraph I usually write with comments on each work. Nobody admitted to reading it, so I'll just leave it out for now. Once the new design goes up, artists' comments will be back, and those should prove far more interesting than anything I have to say...
The BIG Prize. ...Except maybe for this. While it's still another week before Round Four of OmniArt 2005 begins, I promised to finally reveal what's in that Grand Prize package. I talked to a few artists I know and I asked them, "Artist friend of mine, just what kind of prize would you like to win?" The response was pretty unanimous. So, ladies and gentlemen, the talented artist you vote to be the winner of OmniArt 2005 will walk away with at least $500 cash (well, check or money order, but you get the idea). This way, the winning artist can get whatever he or she likes: videogames, fancy cars, anything! If you're Canadian, don't worry; I'll convert the U.S. dollars to your Canadian monies if you like.
At least $500? Nope, that wasn't a misprint. The top winner will receive at least $500, but we're going to play a little game to make that pot even bigger. From the time this update goes up until noon Eastern Daylight Time next Saturday, April 23, 2005, for every submission received in the fanart@ mailbox that meets the submission guidelines and is deemed acceptable for posting in the weekly fan art gallery, one dollar will be added to the $500 starting pot up to a maximum pot size of $750. So if you all send in a total of 50 submissions, the pot will be $550. If we get 250 or more submissions, the pot will stand at $750. Got it? Good!
Great! I'll send in 250 works right now! Not so fast! There are a few things you should know. First, the obvious: previous submissions don't count. However, if you submitted a deviantART gallery link and you have works in it that haven't been posted here yet, you can send in links to individual works and those will count. Second, please don't ask for a read receipt (unless it's one of those automatic ones) since sending out 250+ replies would be rather difficult. Third, be sure to follow the submission guidelines! You may send in multiple submissions in one e-mail, but please fill out the submission template for each piece. And finally, if you send in links to your submissions, please have each link point to only one submission.
You may now start hammering our servers with your submissions and get that jackpot to the $750 maximum. Everyone be sure to check in next week for another gallery update and the next OmniArt 2005 challenge.
