Microsoft and Pepsi have announced a U.S. promotion to place the Xbox 360 in the hands of thousands of gamers before the console's official release this fall. Beginning August 28, Mountain Dew and Xbox will select a winner of a console every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for nine weeks straight as part of their "Every 10 Minutes" campaign.
Those wishing to enter this campaign can drink Mountain Dew and other participating Pepsi products, collect codes under the caps, and visit http://www.every10minutes.com. Codes can be used during whichever 10 minute period they would like. As many or as few codes can be entered by any one person during each 10 minute span.
Those attending E3 themselves will have a chance to win one of 10 Xbox 360 consoles through a special pull-and-peel campaign. Free 20 oz. bottles of Mountain Dew will be distributed to those in attendance on Wednesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 19 and each of these will have a pull-and-peel tab with more than just Xbox 360 consoles in limbo. Those who aren't one of the lucky 10 still stand a chance to win as on top of these next-generation consoles, Microsoft and Mountain Dew will be giving away free Xbox games, Mountain Dew T-shirts, hats and other prizes.
"The launch of the Xbox 360 system is the most anticipated event that will happen in gaming this year," said Dave Burwick, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Pepsi-Cola North America. "We are thrilled to partner with Microsoft and reward our loyal Mountain Dew consumers with the hottest new gaming technology before anyone can buy it in stores, in a way that only Dew can do it."
"We are excited about teaming up with Pepsi-Cola to turn up the volume on the Xbox 360 excitement," said Mitch Koch, corporate vice president of Worldwide Retail Sales for Xbox. "Our co-marketing relationship is based on our commitment to deliver entertaining, top-of-the-line promotions to our customers."
