Blizzard's booth was packed with action this year, and the definite highlight of its display was its upcoming MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The game is just as incredible as the company has been saying it is since it was announced nearly two years ago.
First of all, the game looks good in every way. There was no doubt that I was crawling around Stranglehorn forest with its amazingly detailed landscape. The developers payed extra close attention to detail in this game; it all comes together so perfectly, you really feel like you're part of the world that is Warcraft.
The battle system, compared to most MMORPGs in the market, is extremely fast. No longer do you need to wait 15 seconds for your character to swing a sword, the delay in World of Warcraft is much shorter. Special abilities can be assigned to an easy-to-use action bar. The entire interface is extremely user-friendly; I predict we'll see a whole slew of new MMORPGamers introduced with this game.
This is one title you won't want to miss if you're an MMORPGamer or a Blizzard fan. The beta will be available this fall, and the official release "should" be ready for release in 2004.
