For quite some time, we've been seeing media from Horizons. All along, it's been a fairly generic looking, yet decent MMORPG - completely unassuming and also very difficult to notice. It carried none of the style that other contenders in the genre carry, and had no distinguishing features.
RPGamer is happy to report that while the graphics might seem a little generic, the game is anything but. The real innovation in the game has gone on behind the scenes, where Artifact has been putting a great deal of effort into taking the generic MMORPG experience, and expanding it into something bigger. The game world is entirely dynamic, and is capable of expanding and changing during the course of the game. One of the more impressive features is that the system has never been down since they've gone into beta testing. The developers continually add the world while the game is in motion, placing new areas, and helping guide the game world. Artifact assured us that they have people on staff who's entire duty will be to monitor the game world and keep the peace. Server capacity will be limited to 5000, and they will add servers as needed.
As for the game itself, there are 9 unique classes, all of which are completely customizable. The capabilities for creating a unique character are immense. Nearly every feature is customizable, with some previously unseen features - you can control how portly your character is, and for the ladies, you may choose your "endowment", as they call it. One of the more interesting aspects is the presence of a playable dragon race. Completely different than the standard races, the dragon races grow into ancients, and gain power by hoarding valuables. If that's not enough for you, players can own pieces of land and build on them, using a smaller subset of the very tool the game creators use to build the world.
