The first Deus Ex game was very much a sleeper hit. Nobody expected it, it wasn't well hyped, but when it came out it certainly made an impact. Utilizing a delicate balance of first person shooter elements and role playing elements, the game delivered something of a rare beast in the PC gaming world - a first person shooter with depth, plot, and character development.
Quite some time later, after much groaning and complaining from the gaming community, Deus Ex: The Invisible War will be released. Having played it, I'm happy to report that they kept the core of the game intact. The storyline seems to be very engaging, and the graphics are on par with anything else being released in it's time frame. The only real complaint one might have with it, is that they designed a circular interface to play with. While the interface isn't bad, you can't help but get the feeling that perhaps they sacrificed a bit of gameplay for style because of how the ring takes up more space on the screen.
A small complaint for such a great showing, however. Newcomers and veterans alike should be pleased, and delighted.
