Chaos Legion Impressions
RPG Maker 2

Whoa. Freaking awesome. Imagine Devil May Cry. Now throw several dozen enemies on the map rushing at your bad-ass character, and then you get to go nuts. The enemies fly from you with each swing of your sword, cast of a spell, or spray of bullets from your twin guns. It's a blast to play, even if I haven't figured out how the experience system works yet. To be honest, Choco (Brian Hagen) dragged me to the machine insisting I play, and I wouldn't have given the game a second look without him, and I'm very glad I did now; the battle system is just fantastic. There are two characters to start the game with, at least in the demo I played, but I stuck with the red-haired main hero, and got to enjoy myself immensely as he summoned a giant monster named Thantos to fight alongside of me.

The sound effects, and believe me, until now, I had no idea that the sound of a dozen enemies being blown away had a sound, are well done, and really drag you into the action of the game. In the demo, you're lead to different large areas, sealed in, and then you get to watch as swarms of enemies flood the place and you are forced to fight for your life. Boss battles are intense, pitting you against a bunch of giant monsters who could have easily killed me if I hadn't been saved a few times by my large summoned buddy.

What little story there was in the demo involved a masked man, a dead woman, and a bunch of jumbled horror stills, none of which made much sense. Not that it needed too. Chaos Legion is definitely a game to look forward to if you enjoy cutting a bloody swath through your enemies, and who doesn't?
