Bethesda was on site at the show, and RPGamer was included in an exclusive meeting in which the company showed us their upcoming titles. Among the games was the up and coming expansion set for 2002's Morrowind, Bloodmoon. We saw the Game of the Year version, which still has a lot of work to go on it before its ready for release. However, the game is only weeks away from its PC release, which is running quite smoothly.
The game takes place in the snow-covered realm of Solsteim, which is overun by all sorts of hybrid bear and walrus monsters. The game looks great this far, and it is quite a pleasure to see pinewood trees in the game for once. In Blood Moon, the game play's emphasis is placed on exploration, and, as one of the developers stated, "it is more of a hack'n'slash similar to Diablo in the expansion."
The demo we saw at the developers' office included a Werewolf character, one of the obvious highpoints of this game. Werewolfs, as you likely already know, are characters who have contracted lyconthropy. These fierce fighters are better suited for physical attacks than magical power. When in Werewolf form, everything and anything will attack you, including NPCs and monsters.
The game looks to offer something new to all Elder Scrolls fans, and both PC and Xbox fans will be able to enjoy it by years end. PC gamers will be able to purchase the game starting next month, but Xbox gamers will have to wait until this fall.
