Ten Years of RPGamer - 2006

Many may not have realized it, but 2006 was a trying year for RPGamer and its staff. Our rapid growth caught up with us in a hurry. We needed faster ways to work and better ways to communicate. These things don't happen overnight, so our site output suffered. Regardless of these problems, we had a job to do. One of the database conversions revealed that we covered over 1000 titles. We're still trying to fathom how that happened too.

The site design stayed the same. Truth be told, there was a lot of discussion on the next version of Advanced Media Network's site look, but none of it came to fruition. After some long discussions at E3, RPGamer had to decide between AMN and Gorilla Nation's new network: Crave. It was a tough decision, but we decided to go with Crave. AMN let us keep the look of their network until we could come up with a new one.

In the RPG world, things were definitely changing. Nintendo released their newest console, the Wii, and with it The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. While the gaming scene is completely changed by this new way to play, the question remains how will it affect RPGs? In 2006, it was too late to matter as almost 100 RPGs were released. Other notables include: Final Fantasy III (DS), Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy XII, and Kingdom Hearts II.
