Another year rolled around and RPGamer was still here. Looking back, it's a wonder we pulled through, but with the dot-com bust coming to an end, lots of places were picking up the pieces of the market and looking for new ways to rebuild. Fortunately for all of us, RPGamer was part of these plans. With a new advertising agent filling the ad space, we were able to focus on improving the site. Even though no one could be paid, just knowing that what you're working for is going to stick around is quite a motivation.
The design of the site still didn't change that much. People seemed happy with the site's layout, though the colors were quite drab. It's unclear what made RPGamer afraid of color, that's just how it was. To this day, there's no explanation to the clover-like ends either. It was just one of those ideas that stuck. The holiday version with snow and ice was a big hit with the readers. It's something we're looking into recreating again someday.
The number of RPGs was staggering. All the platform were buzzing with new RPGs to play. With an average of almost seven games a month released, it seemed nearly impossible to keep up. RPGamer loaded up the hotels in LA by sending a dozen people to cover E3 and even then the team was swamped. It's no easy task selecting from this many games, but notable titles include: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Dark Cloud 2, Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire, Disgaea, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
