by Great Gospel In Thomas Mastrangelo's Editorial, he attempted to tell everyone the True Meaning of the Final Fantasy 7 Ending. He landed just about every single detail that could be noticed. Yes, Cloud and gang to defeat Sephiroth just so they could release Holy. Yes Holy would decide who was evil and who was not. Yes Holy decided that the Human Race itself was evil, as was Meteor. However, Mr. Mastrangelo left out two important details. One is rather large, and the other one is a small detail. Before I continue, I should point out that this will have Spoilers so for those who don't want this 3 or 4 Year old Game Spoiled, Don't read this Ed. What Mr. Mastrangelo failed to mention was the inclusion of the Lifestream into this picture. You know, The Green Shiny Stuff that shot out of the the ground in the end? Well, what do you think that was there for? It was there to stop Holy and Meteor! Where are my reasons for this? Here's Two: 1. The Northern Crater. The planet has to fix whatever problems happens to it. That Crater was one of them. That happened hundreds of years before the Final Fantasy 7 cast even came into play and that crater was still there, even after all those years of trying to be fixed! Relax, this has a point. The thing that caused that crater was, if I'm not mistaken, Jenova. Now, Jenova isn't that big.....well at least when compared to a meteor it isn't. Now if something, as big as Jenova can cause a Crater of that size, Imagine what Meteor can do! The fact that Holy can't stop the thing makes it worse is probably what prompts the Lifestream to coming into play! Tell me, does it need a "wound" bigger than the Northern Crater? I don't think so. 2. When Aeris died, and later, "reappeared" in the ending, that has to mean something. She loved this planet, And its people, so much, that she was willing to give her life for it, and that she did. Now, if your loved ones were in danger, would you go out of your way to help them? I know I would. Plus, while she was a Cetra, she was also Half-Human. Her dad was Human. How that came to be, we won't get into, but that fact stands clear. If she's part human, like I'm assuming now, I seriously doubt that she is going to let the people she knew and loved, be eradicated by Holy or Meteor. Now, Mr. Mastrangelo also points out that The Cosmo Race a.k.a. Red XIII's race survived and that humans had been Eradicated. What he forgot to realize was that that whole scene with Red XIII and the two offspring took place 500 years AFTER the meteor incident! Red has an expanded life span and every human or creature with a 499 year life span or less has probably died off by now anyway. Cloud died, Tifa Died, they all must be dead by that time. But can we assume that the human race died? No we can't. I'm going to steal a quote from the movie Small Soldiers on this: "Just because you can't see wind doesn't mean it's not there" So we may have not seen any humans in that one scene. It does not mean we died off, it's just that we weren't shown. But of course, Mr. Mastrangelo could be right and maybe we did. I'm not saying either because I really don't know. What I do know is fact, and that is what I have strived to show in this editorial. I'm going to respectively steal a page out of Mistress Nightshadow's book and if you want to flame me, Praise me, or just plain tell me how much free time I must have to write this, email me at jhb@iglou.com. Of course, if you email me now, it won't get through since my email is dead right now so if you want to ICQ me, its 68872368. I would also like to give thanks to Mr. Mastrangelo. For without his Ed, I wouldn't have been able to rebute to it, and his Ed was a nice one to rebute to anyway. So for that, thank you Mr. Mastrangelo. And with that, I will be off now.
