It's time to start preparing... Ryan will come knocking sooner or later...

by Ender

Everyone here probably wishes that they could get rid of Attorney General Jim Ryan. But don't, just simply because video games would become a scapegoat yet again. Now, I'm also sure that a lot of the people reading this just don't care because, hell, the only thing they debate about are first person shooters. That those games give kids good aim, so what do we, the RPGamers of the world care? I'll tell you what. RPGs are at least twenty times more unrealistic and can, potentionally, can be blamed for more violence than first person shooters. I happen to be a quite varied gamer, and play both (plus many more). But for a few minutes, lets be hypothetical. Okay? Good.

Now, instead of some concerned parent handing Ryan a first person shooter and saying that it was to blame for violence in our school systems, they handed him an RPG. I'm pretty sure that Ryan would come up with a couple reasons that they make kids violent, or at the very least, commit violent acts.

1. Unrealistic Portrails of Violent Acts
A sword swings. The monster is critically hurt. But it looks fine. Nothing happens to the monster. It seems unscathed. Kids will automatically assume that it is fine, that they can take a sword, swing it at their friends and nothing will happen. Then, the kid will slice up his friend. News coverage. And everyone knows what will happen next. Outragously impossible? How about using first person shooters to sharpen your aim? The only way a first person shooter would help is if you mounted the shotgun on your NOSE!!! Trust me. This is only the beginning.

2. Unrealistic Portrail of Consequences of Violent Acts
What happens if one of your party members is killed in battle? What do you do? You grab a Pheonix Down, an Ammonia, a whatever, and you bring the character back to life. Kids will think that they can do whatever and believe that they can literally just be brought back to life with the use of a simple item. Kids will kill each other and media coverage will come in. The kid will say in a Barbra Walters exclusive interview... "I thought that he could be brought back to life."
"How could you think that Timmy?"
"Cuz, you can bring things back to life in Final Fantasy VII"
It'll happen. And I'll be looking for a long piece of rope when it does.

3. More Unrealistic Portrails of Violent Acts
Guns. If you had a thing mounted on your arm like Barrett, how many attacks do you think it would take to kill me? Well, me, I'd probably die after pissing my pants BEFORE the first attack. But a normal dude who isn't a wuss? It proabably wouldn't take even a full attack. Two or three shots at the most. Kids will assume that they can shoot their friends and they'll be ok as long as they only do it once or twice. Course, this kinda blends into 1st person shooters. But it'll still be brought up again.

4. Its OK for people to run amok, cuz everythings forgiven in the end... no matter how bad it is.

Seifer. He wasn't executed. He wasn't jailed. NOTHING!!! He did so many things, and nothing ever happened to him. He was let off the hook. He was able to go fishing afterward. Kids will rob each other... and no one will expect to be punished. NO ONE!!! CHAOS!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! Anyway, trust me. THIS WILL HAPPEN.

I realize that parts of this seem kind of odd and unlikely. And as far as I know, I'll be way off. But what if this does happen? Then who'll be laughing? No one. All the RPGamers of the world will be dead. Maybe not. But how many of you would want to exist in a world where RPGs are censored? Oh, wait... um... nvm.
