The State of Curmudgeons
by Patrick Dell
"Perhaps you think J-pop does not fit a scene because you didn't like it? Maybe you didn't realize that you don't have to like something for it to serve its purpose. Just because you personally don't like something doesn't mean it's bad. 'Eyes on Me' just might've been the best choice for that scene(s) in FF8. Maybe Suteki da Ne was the best choice for the water/pond/lake scene in FF10. How would one person alone be the final judge of this?"

Too Much Information, Too Soon!
by Chris Kohler
"If you read magazines or visit game-related sites, you're going to find this helpful information, from plot twists to characters to cheat codes, usually before you even have the chance to play a game. There's no sense of exploration anymore. There's nothing left to do except actually play the game, the experience of which has been corrupted."

Happy holidays from RPGamer's editorials column; I hope you all found some relaxation during the past week. Today we have quite a rarity, a rebuttal! Though these were once much more common in the column's past, they've become less prevalent ever since the introduction of the message forums. Thanks to Patrick Dell for taking the time to submit this rebuttal. You should also check out one of our archive's oldest editorials by Chris Kohler about game spoilers which, unfortunately, is till somewhat of a problem today.
I'm extremely glad to see the column continuing into a new year. May this section's longevity continue to last!
