Lazy Rainy Sundays November 13, 2006

Editor's Comments: Ah, the good old days. Defeat the enemy on the field of battle, return to my airship, and feed books and rusty helmets to my pet dragon. I miss Bahamut Lagoon, and I'm here to ask for the title to get another chance.

Editor's Comments: Remember Langrisser? Unless you're an SRPG fanatic with a Sega system back in the 90s, you might not. So what's so special about it? JuMeSyn knows, and he tells us why we need to see more.

Editor's Comments: There's nothing at all like hearing the Super Mario theme done by a full philharmonic orchestra. PLAY! is coming around again soon, so your chance to do so might be just around the corner. Jason tells us all about it.

Editor's Comments: In the first part of Michael's "King of the World" series, he discused how Blizzard's World of Warcraft has so quickly risen to dominate the MMO market. But can the King be defeated? Time (and this editorial) might tell.

Editor's Words

While the column comes out every Monday, it's usually written on the Sunday before. Partly to give me time to get things together, but also partly because Sunday is (sort of) a work day for me. I say sort of due to the fact that while I'm at work, business is usually slow. And since I'm at the computer already, I might as well make use of it and get a little RPGamer work in.

This week's column is no exception. I'm sitting in my little gopher hole, listening idly to the background muzak that is office gossip, and the steady drumming of rain on the rooftop. Now, for many ancient cultures, a sudden rain could be a sign or omen. It's much the same for me, really. It rained the day I was adopted, and at my christening. It rained for my eighth and twelth grade graduations, my senior prom, and it was raining when I set out to meet my now-girlfriend Christine for the first time. In fact, nearly every major event in my life has been hallmarked by rainfall. So rain, while dreary and depressing to most people, always makes me smile. It reminds me of good times, and I always see it as a sign that something good is yet to come. One can only hope.

In other news, has anyone seen Heroes? I bet you have, because I'm usually the last to catch on to these things. I got a chance to watch an episode last week, and I think I'm hooked. It could replace SVU as my TV addiction. Well, probably not. But it's a close one. Oh, and I'm probably the only person in the world not to have FFXII yet. How, I don't know. Mostly due to my overwhelming state of poverty. When I do get it, I will most likely fall off the face of the earth, like most of my friends who have it already have. Until then you're stuck with me.

On to the editorials. This week, I submit to you a piece on one of my most-loved games that never made it over to the US. JuMeSyn's also pining for an RPG that never really made it big here- the Langrisser series. Jason's on a more musical bent, here to tell us about the PLAY! concert coming up, and Michael finishes off the "King of the World" series with the inevitable downfall of the king.

That's all for this week, RPGamers. Hope you enjoyed your lazy Sunday as much as I did.
