Who We Fight For
   by Gabriel Ang
"Why? What did I fight for?"
"You close your eyes for a few moments to think. Slowly you open them and you gaze upon her sleeping face. She opens her eyes and looks at your face. She smiles. There, at that very moment, you realize what had been plaguing you all this time."

A Final Word
   by Philip Bloom
"Companies exist to unify a group of people in to attain a profit. Money: it's what they are after. Whose money, you might ask? Our money. And we give it to them. They aren't intelligent beings. They're run by millions of hungry stock owners, each wanting their extra few dollars per share. They can't afford to be very artistic and risky. They'll take the safe bet over the long run almost every time because we, the consumers, show them that that is the way they make the most money."

Addiction: The Tamed Snake
   by Philip Bloom
"It is a tamed snake, dancing hypnotically to the tune of a developer behind it, drawing your eyes with its graceful and swift motions, leaving you unaware of its potentially dangerous fangs as you drop a coins into the snake charmer's hand."

Battle Rocks
   by Philip Bloom
" All of them are famous for their music, but today I'd like to go over the importance of a certain portion of the game, and cheer on those musicians who've worked hard to deal with a very difficult part of game music composition: Battle."

Seven Years Ago
   by Philip Bloom
"This event marked the beginning of the Editorials section here upon the site. A section that we, the people, quickly stepped up to taking over."

Some Game Vocabulary
   by Philip Bloom
"This editorial comes courtesy of watcher over in the forums, who suggested that someone should take the time and provide a nice clear explanation of what's the difference between developers and publishers."

Songs Lost in Translation
   by Philip Bloom
"To present this room in absolute silence would not be nearly as believable an experience. Life is always accompanied by sound."
· Rebuttal to: The Sounds of Silence

Give Thanks to The Hand of the Creator
   by Philip Bloom
"The composition of scene work that conveys the experience, built up from imagination, creativity, and insight. Reflect for a moment on how important and beautiful these few scenes that really achieve this really are."

The Adventure, the Memories, the Legend of Zelda
   by Lord of Shadow
"This sense of youthful, innocent exploration, of being a hero that traveled through unknown lands and beheld strange sights and sounds, is the cause of the love that its fans hold for the Zelda series. There are few things in this world that can compare to that feeling, a feeling that the Zelda series can invoke in even its older followers."

The Magic, the Wonder, the Future of Zelda
   by Lord of Shadow
"In a Link to the Past or Link's Awakening, every screen was different. Rather then a large, repetitive field or ocean, they should have a varied overworld, filled with valleys, rocks, stands of trees, roads, the odd hermit or two, a house here, a tent and campfire there. They need an overworld that seems alive, one filled with activity."

Editor's Comments

Wow! What an update we have in store for you today. If you haven't already guessed by the title, yes, this is my last update for editorials. It's been a wild and incredibly fun ride over the past year and a half. We successfully revived the column and have seen it thrive in the time since. I'd like to thank all the writers and readers for all the support I received over the course of my tenure as curator, you're the ones who have made this section what it is, and now, on the day of my three year anniversary as an employee at RPGamer, I pass the column on to new hands. I'll be moving on the site's public relations department now, but you'll likely see me around this neck of the woods, as I'll continue writing editorials.

I'm extremely happy to present Philip Bloom, popularly know as Dracos on the message boards, as your new host. Philip was without a doubt the best candidate for the position: He's been a dedicated reader since we revived the column, as well as a prolific writer, submitting many top-notch articles to the section. He's proven himself a worthy debater in the message boards, one of the main reasons he was our number one choice. I'm confident in his ability, and I believe he will lead this column into even greater days. Be sure to read all seven of his articles today, and definitely take a look at his "Seven Years Ago" article for his thesis on where he wishes to take the column.

Now a few words from Philip himself:

"Heya folks, I'll be taking care of this neck of the woods from here on out. Don't be afraid though, I don't bite. Not too hard anyway. Anyhow, there'll be some changes coming to this section with coming weeks, hopefully among them some more lively updates as we work on this end to get this section moving faster. If you could though, I'd really like to hear what you guys would like to see in this section. So drop me a line and tell me what you guys think."

In addition to Philip's articles, Gabriel Ang writes another interesting editorial this week, and Lord of Shadow takes a look at the Legend of Zelda series. Thanks to these writers, and thanks again to ALL who wrote in during my time here. It's been a blast; see you around.
