All is Not Well With the Empire
   by Gabriel Putnam
"When Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) was first announced, I was interested to say the least. At heart I am a deep fan of the first trilogy and of the society surrounding it. From only a tiny glimpse on-screen, the saga of Star Wars has been taken by the fan community and transformed into something far greater than I think Lucas even dreamed of originally. Now to be able to play a character within that sweeping epic along with thousands of others, that would be something truly special if handled correctly."

The Case for Macros
   by Gabriel Putnam
"Now basically there are only two sides to this argument. On one hand, there are those who feel that the use of macros is an unfair advantage for players, which allows them to powerlevel at an unbalanced rate and outstrip their fellow players. On the other side, there is the camp which I fall into, and which takes advantage of macros, as they feel that the benefit supplied by macros is both needed and fair, since they are a publically available tool for anyone."

Villainy and Philosophy II: The Ends and The Means
   by Gabriel Ang
"In this day and age, few people have not heard of the saying "The ends justify the means." This saying signifies that the the goals of a man are worth the ways in which he uses to achieve them. This concept has been debated much over the last few hundred years as it sometimes go head-to-head with many moral teachings... This philosophical concept is very much found within RPGs."

The True Focus of Final Fantasy
   by David Boudreau
"It always makes me laugh, or at least chuckle a little, when I read about how the Final Fantasy “template” has become unoriginal, or see someone express their opinion that the Final Fantasy battle system has run its course and should not be made again. It’s funny, because quite frankly these people seem to me to be missing the point entirely."

Editor's Comments

Today I present you with four interesting editorials. Gabriel Putnam returns with two editorials on the subject of MMORPGs, both of which represent two major concerns in the current online role-playing community. Gabriel Ang submits the second part to his Villainy and Philosophy series of editorials, and David Boudreau shares his opinion on what Final Fantasy is really all about.

I expect, as the many new RPGs scheduled for release come out, we'll have plenty of different subjects to write about, so hopefully the column will continue on its current course toward an increased amount of submissions. Catch you next week.
