Xbox.. The Next RPG System?
   by Doug Hill
"So, how is the Xbox the possible future of RPGs? Simple. It has a guaranteed hard drive. Every Xbox owner has a hard drive in his or her system, and every RPG for Xbox should utilize it. No, not by using an install to make the game load faster. That's a waste of space, when you should be concentrating on compression methods and reworking the data to load faster. The hard drive should be used to save a massive amount of world variables. Let me explain by giving you an existing upcoming example."

Editor's Comments

Welcome everyone to today's column. Two weeks have passed, and not a single submission has come my way. Thus, today we will take a look back into RPGamer's column at a classic editorial that has full relevance to today. The editorial, written over two and a half years ago by past staff member Doug Hill, looks at the Xbox and its potential for RPGs. The editorial refers to Fable (by its old name, Project Ego, in this editorial), the recently-released highly-anticipated Xbox RPG, and how it could revolutionize the genre. Now we can finally put this editorial to the test, and see if Doug's conjectures about the game and system itself have really come into fruition.

C'mon people, write some articles! We need new content no matter how enjoyable the old stuff is.
