Editor's Comments: Wow, Jackson's got a lot to say about Fallout! That's a good thing, since it's such an underappreciated title in my book. This week he discusses the religious undertones in the game, and how they relate to Eastern mysticism.

Editor's Comments: Politics is always a hot topic, and we're all aware of how much it can affect the gaming industry. But in a new take. JuMeSyn looks at the prospect of making an RPG that touches on topical political views. Would it work?

Editor's Comments: Ah, pillage and plunder! Every evil villain's favorite modus operandi. But could they want something deeper? Maybe love, acceptance, or a cooler-looking cape? This editorial takes a deeper look at villain psyches.

Editor's Comments: Well, the Wii's here folks. And bathroom jokes aside, the ongoing debate over it has the gaming world lining up on both sides to take potshots. Josh takes apart one particular article from Joystiq about Wii's marketing strategy.

This week's topic comes up due to a conversation I was having with some co-workers the other day. My job has people from all ages and walks of life, and musically our tastes vary. One person likes country music, and another likes rap. Still another prefers R&B, and we all know I throw down with the loudest, angriest rock I can find. Yet each and every one of us loves 80s music. Be it cheesy pop numbers, psychedelic Euro dance tracks, or searing hair-metal ballads, my entire office can name any 80s tune and sing it word for word in five notes. There must just be something elementally universal about music from that age. I don't know. Maybe people refer to the 1980s as a Golden Age in America, so maybe that's a part of it. All I know is I'm a closet Duran Duran freak. And about a dozen other 80s bands too.
So today we'll have an 80s theme. Jackson "whips it, whips it good" with a comeback piece about Fallout and Religion, JuMeSyn "pours some sugar" on the concept of the political RPG, I tell a tale of how "everybody wants to rule the world," and Josh pops "99 luftballoons" in his appraisal of a recent article on the Wii. OK so they're red balloons, but the German version was much better!
Got a "tainted love" for RPGs? Have an opinion that's become an "obsession?" Just tired of my ridiculously sad attempts at puns? As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts! Send submissions to editor@rpgamer.com and we'll post your article in the next update.
