We Could Be Heroes September 11, 2006

Editor's Comments: Fallout is, to many people, a classic. Revolutionary in gameplay and theme, it still is regarded as a groundbreaker. Jackson has re-discovered much of what he loved about the title the first time, and shares it with all of us.

Editor's Comments: In last week's editorial, Frozen RPGs, Michael discussed the inundation of RPGs we're about to receive for the winter. He's back this week with a follow-up, bringing to light several games that might not get noticed when the big titles get released.

Editor's Comments: Does music in RPGs often just seem like something to fill the background? Tired of hearing the same kind of tunes in every game you play? Jason brings us an idea to spice up the genre by adding a little touch of the classical.

Editor's Words

Roll out the welcome wagon, RPGamers! This week, we've got fresh meat..er, a new editorialist on the scene. Give Jason "Whispyaura" Villemez a hearty welcome! Poor guy doesn't know what's in store for him. Muahahaha....

Today's theme, of course, is stolen from a classic Bowie song, "Heroes." Actually, to be exact, the cover by The Wallflowers. I love that song, and it's gotten stuck in my head as I write this. So, all sorts of Bowieish/Wallflowery goodness will grace our page this week. First out, Jackson will be king with an article about one of his (and my) favorites, Fallout. Michael...well he won't be Queen, but he will follow up last week's piece with a story about some RPGs that might fall by the wayside this winter. And Jason swims like dolphins can swim, while presenting his debut editorial on how popular music might be a hero to the RPG market (and not just for one day!)

If the above paragraph makes no sense to you, go listen to some Bowie. Or the Wallflowers. Both are good.

And afterwards, why don't you give me a piece of your mind? As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts! Send submissions to editor@rpgamer.com and we'll post your article in the next update.
