IT’S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY
   by Tomm Hulett
"He wanted every element of the game to be potentially spelled out in some form so the player would have a fair shake at finding it. This is silly. Players aren’t paying for secrets any more than a game should be judged on the secrets it has. Game secrets (or “easter eggs”) are meant to be stumbled upon unexpectedly."

Interaction + Modesty = Great Battles
   by Dustin Windes
"I read through an editorial entitled "Chaos Theory" and have been chewing on it for a couple of days. I found some of the points most accurate in the way that they were portrayed for the reader. A few minute points came up that set off a tiny alarm inside my head which feel need to be expanded upon to a certain degree."

Editor's Comments

Welcome to this week's editorials column. Today we're privileged with two rebuttals responding to some of last week's articles. Tomm Hulett has responded to last week's article about secrets with an interesting discussion on the true nature of secrets within video games. We've also received a worthy rebuttal to last week's battle system rebuttal by first-time submitter Dustin Windes.

As you've likely noticed, it's been a very slow month for RPGamer's interaction department, as evidenced by this month's low submission count. It is likely a result of school starting up for many potential submitters, and all the work that comes with getting adjusted to a non-summer schedule. Hopefully things will pick up shortly, and remember that all submissions are welcome.
