Birthday Bash August 28, 2006

Editor's Comments: No, not the kind that will get you a restraining order. Well, hopefully not! Bryan delves into the potential the innovations of the Nintendo DS offer SRPG gamers, especially fans of several popular strategy titles.

Editor's Comments: What snagged you into playing these woderful role-playing games of ours? Which title really got you into the market? What was your "hook"? Herein lies the story of one RPGamer and the title that brought him into the fold.

Editor's Comments: Who says men never ask for directions? Josh is tired of getting lost in "sandbox" style RPGs, and he has a few helpful suggestions for developers to make his next journey easy. Maybe a Square-Mapquest partnership?

Editor's Comments: Ever get that feeling...you know the one. That your head's a giant rupee? Maybe you should see a doctor. Or at least read this article about the true heroic force in Hyrule. The one, the only, Tingle.

Editor's Words

Well, as of today's posting I turn twenty-nine in two days. Yup, it's my birthday! Huzzah, or some such. I'm not one to celebrate it much, but it's there, kind of like your appendix. It probably has some use, but mostly it just explodes on you when you least expect it.

Today's update has all sorts of gifts for me. Bryan brings not one, but two presents: One about the unsung hero of Hyrule, the other about some handy uses for the DS stylus. I got a little something for myself, regaling a tale of how I got into RPGaming. And Josh jumps out of the birthday cake with his thoughts on getting lost in open-ended games. I hope he keeps his clothes on.

So, what about you? Bring me some gifts RPGamers! While I accept cash, checks, credit cards, and (especially) games, I'd like your opinions most! Got a story about gaming? A suggestion, gripe, or anything else you want to tell the world about your favorite RPG or just the genre in general? Email me at Editor@RPGamer.com with your editorial. I'd love to hear from you!
