Creature Feature Sarah Williams

Editorial Excerpt: "Training creatures to fight in my own kick-arse army is great fun, and the Shin Megami Tensei monsters are interesting in that they're pulled from so many different cultures' legends and folktales. I have my favorites, as to be expected."

Time to Try a New Tactic Michael Cunngingham

Editorial Excerpt: "I want to express my disappointment with the realm of tactical RPGs of late. Honestly, it's like no one is even trying anymore as the market is flooded with mediocre tactical games with little to no innovation."

From the Editor's Desk

I've finished toying around with Final Fantasy IV DS and have returned to Final Fantasy Tactics on my PSP. I am consistnently amazed at how excellently addicting this game is. It's as if the years since its release haven't done anything to make it seem inferior to its competition. Beyond that it's been a pretty uneventful week for me. I have only a few more weeks until school starts, but I think I'm at that point where I'm ready for it. Better yet, I've decided to bring my PS3 with me this year. In the past I had decided to only ever bring my handhelds, but with my girlfriend student teaching this semester I'm going to have more time by myself and I think it would be a good idea to bring some backup! Or I could just study more...

Staff editorials are the name of the day. We have pieces from Sarah Williams and Macstorm. Sarah muses about her enjoyment of creature collection across a number of games while Macstorm brings up how little innovation there has been in tactical RPGs over the years. Both are good pieces and I would encourage all to read them, and as always to write in. We can never get enough of your opinions! Cheers all!
