Editorials for August 19, 2000 - Turning the Page

Updated by Rob Parton

Today is a day of  beginnings and ends. After what was probably quite a bit of thought on Darien's part, he has decided to step down from the Editorials section of RPGamer.  Understanding about how many may feel about it, I asked him to say a few words before he departs.

Darien:
Well, if you haven't noticed, eds have moved along to Scar. He's been told he has big shoes to fill, so you'll all be happy to know, that his size 14s are actually the same as mine. So all hail the editorials of the giant feet-men.

I apologize for the total lack of updates. I had major computer problems, and when I fixed them, I realized exactly how much I hate computers and HTML. Therefore, if everything works out, I'll be doing news which requires a lot less HTML drudgework.

I just want to thank all you folks who submitted to the column, and allowed me to really get a chance to know you through your writings, or a few heated exchanges and whatnot. Anyway, whatever, it's not like I'm going away, so I have 2 final things to say.

The first is that you can still e-mail me at  darien@rpgamer.com. Like most normal humans, I like getting e-mail now and then saying "howdy" or having idle talk and whatnot. The second is that I will most likely keep doing last words on my homepage. So go on over and read.

So now Scar gets handed the magical editorial pen that makes mistakes go away, and makes you all revel in his infinite wisdom. Treat him well, else I'm likely to come back and deliver an old-fashioned arse-whoopin'. That's 'bout it from back at the ranch.

Rob:
Before I go on with the update, I'd like to thank Darien personally.  Not for thinking enough of me to allow me to be next in line, but for the excellent work he did here in Editorials.  He brought a spark back that was starting to falter, and made it glow again. Thank you Dar.

Due to the fact that I'm oozing free time, you will hopefully be seeing changes in the format of this page.  Nothing drastic, but something that will make the reader, the writer, and I all a bit happier.  The Archive is going to be getting a makeover, as is the editorial template.  Authors may wish to watch the guidelines, as they may be altered and tweaked in the near future. If they are, I'll be sure to mention it in the intro.

Now, off to the update.  This week's update isn't very big, partly because of the email switching between staff members, and the fact that Jeff made quite a big update last week.  As always, Mistress Nightshadow shows off that she is quite the writer!

Good news! I found out who sent me that pic! Special thanks to Falthorn. It's excellent, but I still can't get my email to send...dunno. I guess it's about time to get a web-based address for AOL...I can never seem to get through.

Just a sidenote. I've been set as the Editorials Guy.  I'm happy to be aboard! :D
