For me, it all started with the Crystal of Water...
If I'd had my way, FFIV would be sitting in my PSX right now. I'd heard that FF Chronicles would come out today. Now, I'm really crazy about FFIV-- it was the first RPG I ever played, and were it not for that game, I definitely wouldn't be here today; I doubt I would even be a gamer. My excitement at the new translation knows no bounds. So I drove twenty minutes to the mall just to buy FF Chronicles on the first day of its release-- and what do I discover but that it won't be out until tomorrow. Sigh.
I do, however, intend to wait in line for hours outside of the FF Movie premiere. (Yes, I am a nerd. I don't care. ^_^)
With so many upcoming Final Fantasy events, is it any wonder that the merit of the series itself has come into sharp debate? This week, we've got several eds arguing over the merits and flaws of the series that has garnered perhaps more fans than any other RPG to date. Does FF deserve such a following? For that matter, does it deserve snack foods bearing its logo? What's up with Square's marketing ploy? Are you put off by the commercialization or thrilled that RPGs are getting such mainstream exposure? Also, I know some of you are sick to death of hearing about Final Fantasy. So... in that case, what do you have to say? Write us an editorial about a non-Square RPG!
Notes from Mistress Nightshadow: There's a few things I would like to say which have been done... the first is that you should all check out the Dark Cloud contest results since it was a editorial like contest. Another is that I'm still at Media Central next week, so keep sending winamp skins, wallpaper and full packaged themes (among other things) to themes@rpgamer.com so I can put them up.
The third would be that the archives have been updated a little more again, with both the Author and new dated archives updated to September 1999 if you're interested.
And before you start accusing me of lying, I did come back next week. I didn't say I'd be at the forefront though, did I?
