Loving the Summer Lull Sam Marchello

Editorial Excerpt:

"As summer officially approaches at the end of this week, so does the beginnings of the summer gaming lull."

Exclusive Schmexclusive! Khash Afshar

Editorial Excerpt:

"Here's what my gripe is about: the new market for video games revolves too strongly around exclusive gaming. To be honest, it makes me upset that there are two equally powered systems, capable of much of the same, producing the same kind of games, but at the same time, NOT the same game."

Lovers Gabriel Ang

Editorial Excerpt:

"Love. Love is said by the enlightened to not only encompass that sexual love between two souls, but to also encompass the very cores of human relations. There is no friendship, no camaraderie, no shared idealism and foremost, no such things as the true human connection without love. It creates that feeling of kinship between even the most polar opposites of people; a bond between those with shared experiences."

Chariot Gabriel Ang

Editorial Excerpt:

"The road to self-discipline however is not an easy road, for it is very easy to get swept up in the tide of raging emotions and to use these emotions as a driving force. This would often leave little time to think and to rationalize, as such it sometimes closes the door on a better plan of action. To succeed in a world of uncertainty, where one is sometimes just a breeze in the midst of a storm, discipline and planning can become the wind that silences it."

From the Editor's Desk

Ah, summer. How I've missed you! After an insane winter and a rainy spring, I'm looking forward to sunshine and sunbath... yeah right. I'm looking forward to finally having free time to whip through my backlog of books and games! And to be honest, since being out of school, I've been doing pretty good at getting through some good books and games. I'm currently reading The Amazing Maurice and this Educated Rodents by the delightful Terry Pratchett, and I'm finding myself constantly giggling. Pleasure reading, how I've missed you!

This weekend I managed to polish off Yggdra Union which I think was a great way to start off my summer gaming experience. While the story wasn't the most unique, Yggdra as a character was delightful, charming and her sense of justice was admirable. I really liked the cast of characters in this game. Other than that, I've mostly been playing Jeanne d'Arc while also dabbling in Suikoden Tierkreis. If you haven't tried either Yggdra Union or Suikoden Tierkreis, I'd say you are seriously missing out, dear readers!

The editorials for this week has one ready with debate and the other a more light-hearted piece to prepare for the joys of the summer lull. Good old summer lull... oh! And California! California is the destination for summer. Oh, sorry, my brain seems to already be in summer mode! And finally, Gabriel Ang comes back for another week to continue on with his tarot editorials. Every time I read these, it makes me want to pull out Suikoden II and replay the game again. Not that I need to replay it again since I've played it at least four times before!

Also, I wanna rewatch Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog again. Again, again, and again.
