*blinkblink*
Well, I was supposed to be transported to an interaction section, but this isn't the right one! Hence the update title up there. *points* I'm here 'coz MN's pretty well tied down with finals, seems to have had a small relapse of an illness, and didn't have a great deal of time to do the update this week. Rather than let it slide, she drafted me the minute I came online asked me to do it for her.
So, what are these editorials about, anyway? Let's see.. a couple rebuttals to Wisdom's ed from last week, about the relative merits of newer and older games. I actually got several of these, it seems like this won't ever cease to be a hot topic in the gaming world. It seemed to spark a debate in the Double Agent column of the Gaming Intelligence Agency recently as well, sparked by this essay posted on a site containing a comic which, though this isn't relevant, is absolutely hilarious. Read 8-bit theater! There isn't much more to say about Old School vs. New School, though I am curious as to how New School gamers, fans mainly of the 3rd-generation system, will react once the 4th generation is in full swing, and RPGs for PS2 and GC abound.
Some of you may have noticed the new feature RPGamer has posted regarding our "wish list" of games for the Game Boy Advance. Thoughts? Complaints? Games we forgot? Personally, I think it's a pretty good list overall, though I might have a small objection to the voting process--everybody on staff got to pick ten games, which all weighed equally. This could lead to something like, say, everybody puts a certain game on the bottom of their list, and all but one or two people put a different game on the top of their list, but the remaining one or two don't list it at all. The result: the game rated lower by everybody ends up higher on the final list. Now, that's a pretty extreme example, and I'm pretty sure it didn't happen, so don't go complaining to Ed Walker or to the webmaster about the voting process on my behalf... I just thought I'd mention it, to spark thought, or some such. :)
Other noteworthy statements:
- Dark Cloud contest. Tell us why you want it!
- MN wants your thoughts on Castlevania's recent developments, and the RPGlike style.
- Andy Richter never should have left Late Night with Conan O'Brien!
- There are no cats in America, and the streets are filled with chee~ese!
- XC, 'coz of my antics in the column, you can have one Get Out of Hell Free card, courtesy me.
