Two pieces of information for you. First off, I didn't receive four reader editorials by the cut off time on Friday, so sadly there will be no prizes for this week. And since I didn't have enough for a full update, I'll save a couple of those reader submissions for next week in hopes of possibly having a strong reader presence. Second, we are changing things up just a bit in the area of editorial status. We've not had a major focus on status around here, but we are moving toward unification throughout the site and are changing to match the reviews section. Not a major change, so don't think of it as a loss of status as much as a new goal to strive toward.
Our old rankings looked like so:
- Novice: 1-3 Editorials
- Copper: 4-9 Editorials
- Mythril: 10-19 Editorials
- Gold: 20-34 Editorials
- Platinum: 35+ Editorials
Our new rankings match reviews:
- Novice: 1-4 Editorials
- Copper: 5-14 Editorials
- Mythril: 15-29 Editorials
- Gold: 30-49 Editorials
- Platinum: 50+ Editorials
With that out of the way, we have four exciting editorials this week. Starting us off is our new editorialist who will also be pulling duty as a translator with our news department, Bret. He brings us an interesting editorial about the Final Fantasy series and what it has done for society. We also have a new reader submission from Blake discussing the finer points of generic characters and his dislike of them. Jason and Jeffrey also bring us follow ups to their pieces from last week. Both of which should spark some debate.
It's all an endless process, this sending and receiving of editorials. So, please continue to fill the editor@rpgamer.com inbox with as many editorials as possible. It never gets too full in case you are wondering. In parting, I would like to say farewell to Jason "Whispyaura" Villemez who is moving on to bigger and better things, mainly teaching in Japan. Take care and best wishes. That's all for now, so keep the editorials coming. Rebuttals are very welcome, too.
