How to Improve Random Encounters and Reduce a RPGamerīs Blood Pressure
   by Raggie
"Random battle encounters are one of the pet peeves of many console RPG players. Many gamers have turned away from the genre simply because they couldnīt take all the battles. Even though Iīm a hardcore RPG gamer, I can completely understand their point of view; itīs incredibly annoying that the characters canīt walk for more than a few seconds without getting into yet another boring, repetitive battle... is there any way to fix this?"

Editor's Comments

Welcome to another week of editorial goodness. There are three well-written articles this week just waiting to be read and debated. Raggie discusses random battles and how they can be improved, while Thanh Pham talks about where RPGs are going and the important factors influencing that direction. And Leo Lionheart pleas with both Square Enix and its fans to get Dragon Quest V released in North America.

I hope last week's April Fool's joke update didn't scare you away! See you next week.
