From the Editor's Desk

I'm very tired of just doing a recap of the eds here, so I'm just going to write down my random thoughts. I doubt anyone cares either way, so here I go. I love cheesecake, especially Butterfinger cheesecake from the Gondolier. I am going to have a piece when I get home tonight. Pizza is also a weakness of mine. I really enjoyed Easter. It's such an ignored holiday these days. I want a week off from work, but it doesn't look as if I will have another one until May. Oh well, what can you do? Nothing, that's what.

Final Fantasy Tactics has finally been completed and it was a wonderful experience. Anyone that wrote off the game after trying to play the original on the PlayStation, if you have a PSP, pick it up. The lag issues and sound problems are bothersome, but big frickin' deal. The story is well-told and the new translation is a thing of beauty. I remember why I didn't really enjoy it when I first played it around ten years ago. The difficulty curve can be rough at the start, as your characters don't have all of the awesome skills that they need to be powerhouses. Once you get into the game and start unlocking classes and skills (I'm looking at you Ninja and dual wield), things become much easier. Don't even get me started on the destructive force of nature that is Orlandeau. All of this along with being able to understand the story made this playthrough a very enjoyable experience. The story is very solid, though I would have preferred more details on the ending of the game. Just think, last week I was proclaiming my desire for Square Enix to localize Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and before the week was out, they had announced it. You can't beat that for quick turnaround, can you? Bring on the tactical RPG goodness. I still have Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Wild ARMs XF in the meantime, so hopefully I can make some progress in them soon. I'll make sure to let you know.
