  Editorials for  February 16, 2001
  Solve by Substitution

Meh. Just when she thought she was back on track, poor MN was sidelined by a variety of misfortunes. After her computer decided to die on her earlier in the week, she promptly came down with a nice high fever immediately thereafter, so she was unable to update(although take heart: she was able to collect all your contest eds). I, happening to have been helping someone who was helping her, ended up doing this whole freaking thing. Not that I mind... I actually kind of plotted it that way, come to think of it. Meh meh meh... so anyway, here I am! Before we get started, however, there's just a few messages I'm gonna pass on from MN.

Okay, first of all, as you might have guessed, the contest is over as of midnight. In total, 54 editorials were submitted, and a lot of them were very well done. Expect news on the contest in the next week or two, as MN gets a chance to look them all over. Secondly... wait, I guess that was all. Wow, this post-it note sure looked fuller before. Guess you just can't trust your own handwriting sometimes.

Now, back to me! I'm Andrew Long, from RPGamer's news team. You may have heard of me from such stories as Winkysoft Announces Spirit Machine Rayblade 2 or Interview With Nobuo Uematsu. I also write reviews occasionally, although I haven't done that in quite some time. I even have one editorial somewhere in the foggy past. I go to the University of Toronto, and uh... yeah. I'm just filling in for this week, and everyone's favorite editorialatrix will be back for next week's update.

As might have been expected, there was a whole lot of reaction to Patrick Ralston's editorial The Opinion Not Taken. I guess people really do like Final Fantasy VI after all. There's two rebuttals to that particular effort, and another rebuttal concerning furry creatures and pizza-eating dinosaurs. The contest editorials continue to be great for the most part, and thanks again to TSG for his help in grading them.

Anyhow, I think I've bored you enough, so I'll just finish by saying that news rules. Read our news. It's important, really, it is! Okay... well, I don't really have much else to say here, so without further ado, here are your editorials!
