For all those who were watching Q&A over the weekend, you might have noted that yes, I was up to something... several somethings in fact. Just for all of you who don't happen to know, I will be running an editorials contest... with first prize being any RPG we cover at RPGamer on Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Playstation or Game Boy Colour, and a chance to guest host with Cheshtire Catalyst. Don't worry, there's other prizes as well. For all those interested in entering [That would be ALL of you.] look on the sidebar for the section on the competition.
You'll also note that this week's update has an interesting little addition... That there is a sample submissions entry written by Joshua "Darien" Maciel. He was nice enough to let me use this particular editorial to demonstrate how the reports will be issued for each editorial at the end of the competition. It was marked by myself and by a RPGfan reviewer and a RPGamer Fanfic assistant, TSG. He will be in next week as a guest updater of sorts. Just be careful, he doesn't get his nick as the Caffeinated Englishman for nothing. [Just kidding!]
I will also pick a couple of entries every week, at random, and I will put them up, without any indication as to who sent it in, and we will give it a general grade. Just to show generally where things stand and to see what our contestants are up to.
Make sure you read all the rules carefully, because they will be strictly adhered to... then again I know all of you will read them, won't you?
That isn't the only thing I've been up to either. I've been thinking of things as of late, and I've decided to open a little place on Espernet, where you can meet other readers and writers to this section, as well as myself. The FAQ on how to get there, even if you never used IRC before is also on the sidebar.
What else is there... Oh yes, I almost forgot the editorials themselves! Well, apparently everyone wanted to add their two bits on the main theme of this update... Final Fantasy VII. It seemed that a lot of people interperated the ending differently. We have a few people defend the right of people to use the spoiler markings, and a couple of eds concerning how we can nudge those RPG companies to do what we want. Call it the week of the counter attack if you will.
Well, that's this week wrapped up. Start writing, start reading and make sure you read all the rules. I hope I can read all your submissions soon!
PS: For any editorial submission to be put up, both normal and contest, I must have an e-mail address to put with the submission. If you don't feel comfortable with putting up your real one, create an account at a free e-mail address. I want people to be able to reach you directly.
