In this mad and always moving world, every person feels like they're always getting swept along by all sorts of people. Of course no man truly wants to be alone, but there are times when we are always in the company of others that we have no times for ourselves. People talk with each others that they sometimes forget that one needs to also talk with the self inside. Everyone needs a moment alone, to talk with our own innermost selves, including our feelings, hopes, dreams, among others. At times we feel so swept up by the crowd that choose to isolate ourselves, not out of circumstance, but out of necessity. Yes, it is indeed sometimes required of us to just get away from it all, to be alone with ourselves, in order to put things into perspective. It is because, most of the time, the answers we seek cannot be provided by others. The answers we seek are often times within ourselves, and only by finding time alone can we find these answers.

When the Hermit goes into the desert, it is not because if finds the mass of humanity irritating. It is because, in fact, that he must figure out within himself how to truly rejoin the mass of men. In his solitude the Hermit seeks for his answers.

The Hermit is not necessarily always the loner type of person. More often than not he chooses to be in solitude because he doesn't truly understand himself or the answers he seeks, and he has figured out that only he can find them; no one else can give it to him. Being with others gives so many distractions that it may be difficult to find the answers one searches for. He looks for a secluded spot he finds peaceful so he can ruminate with himself, a place where there are no distractions to take his thoughts away. It is here with himself that he can start looking for answers.

The young Fool learns that while there is joy and success being with others, there are times where he must seek to be alone, because these are the times he has to learn more about himself and the answers he seeks. He can depend on others all he wants, but sometimes the only way to figure out the road to travel on is to sit by the side of the road for a moment and think. When he has found what he is searching for in himself, he can go back on the road he shares with others, and perhaps even help guide them as well.

In the middle of Cosmo Canyon lies a great bonfire, where he and his friends find themselves sitting, lost in their own thoughts. This fire has a strange power to put people alone with themselves, to give them time to think and be with the selves within. They find it funny really, but here many issues they've been grappling comes to the surface. Even the hero finds some time to think by himself, to discover more about himself and the reasons for his journey. When he speaks with the others they too reveal things about themselves they never truly realized until that moment. One speaks of a collective dream to rid the planet of the Shinra Corp. Another speaks of her fears of being the last of her race, and another speaks of her wish to free her war-torn hometown from oppression. He not only discovers more about himself, but more about his own friends.

A True Rune bearer possesses powers beyond that of mortal men, but with it comes the heavy price of bearing on his shoulders the hopes of thousands, if not millions, as well as a destiny he may never reach or even avoid. The day he received the rune and the moments he discovers more about them, he learns about the sordid pasts of the True Runes and how they have become the agents of war and peace, hatred and love, life and sacrifice and most of all, stagnation and change. In his hands he holds power to alter destiny and fate, and he realizes just how important his role has become. Here we see him trying to find time alone, whether leaving his castle or in his own room, pondering his own purpose and his own desires. In his time alone he seeks to figure out what he wishes to do, as a man and as a leader, burdened with the power to change the stars.

The hero has come to know, as a man saddled with a responsibility, that lesser men would crack under the pressure, and he needs to take steps in order to assure that he is on the best track he is able to travel on. This will often require one to stop traveling and tell his friends "I need some time alone" in order to be with himself and share a few thoughts with his innermost mind. The world he lives in changes quickly, and he is often the center of this change, so much so that if he does not find a moment to reflect and ruminate in this even changing world he might find himself lost and dumbfounded in it. He can ask the advice of his companions, but he knows they cannot always answer questions for him. The answers, again, are often inside himself, and he needs to be alone to find them.

It is in his solitude that the Hermit finds the best answers to the most pressing of problems.
