Love. Love is said by the enlightened to not only encompass that sexual love between two souls, but to also encompass the very cores of human relations. There is no friendship, no camaraderie, no shared idealism and foremost, no such things as the true human connection without love. It creates that feeling of kinship between even the most polar opposites of people; a bond between those with shared experiences. The mutual respect that develops between these people strengthens their resolve to be together, to share dreams and aspirations, and share the road that leads to their common goal. It fosters trust between people and respect for each others differences. Without love there is no group. Without love there are no comrades.
The Lovers, much more than the relationship between a man and a woman, is relationship between all human beings. A relationship that comes with a choice.
The Lovers, more than a symbol of sexual attraction, is also the symbol of human attraction. In his life's journey he will meet and befriend so many people like and unlike him, people who will affect his life sometimes in more ways than one. Some may gravitate towards him and offer to partake in his journey through the world, but can he come to accept someone he knows so little about? To love and to trust is a choice, and both are things that cannot be given to others lightly. Does he choose to become his companion, or not?
At this point the young Fool begins to realize that he is now something of a human magnet, bringing together people of similar and opposing ideals. He will have to deal with some of them as a friend, an associate, an acquaintance or even an enemy. He must now learn how to harness the powers of these new relations. For his friends and allies, to keep their relationships harmonious. To his enemies, as opposing as possible.
Now that his allies know the story of his life, and his history with the white-haired swordsman, he now knows that a new adventure lies in front of him. Of course he knows, as someone who is not used to be around people and not used to leading, he questions if he is truly capable of leading a ragtag band of misfit fighters in the quest to save the the Promised Land of lore. He knows that, save for his childhood friend, he doesn't really know a lot about the others that follow him, but he knows he will need their help to track this swordsman down. Still, he makes his choice: despite all of them coming from different backgrounds, he needs their trust and help, to save the promised land.
He is now the leader of an army, the only army capable of standing against the raging tides of a nation craving for blood. From his rickety castle he must make a stand, and to make a stand, he must recruit those willing to fight beside him. As he makes steps to form his first alliance, it is itself symbolic of his difficulties: a city of three races of people, all with differing ideals, politics and beliefs. Making whole groups of people with a singular ideology is one thing, what then about individual people who's help he needs to break the chains of destiny? On his right hand he holds a True Rune that is the symbol of heroic liberation, yet also of eternal opposition with its brother. Here he makes his choice: he must find those who will become his elite of the elites, the ones chosen by the stars to be heroes, in order to break away from the tides of fate.
The hero of many tales knows that human relations are paramount to the success of his journey. To have more enemies plotting against you is to have more difficulties on the road ahead, and likewise to have more friends fighting beside you eases this road. Even then he must learn that in order to befriend them and make them his allies, he must understand the ideas of love: between friends, lovers and allies alike. He cannot satisfy everyone, but he can satisfy those he knows are the most important. Not only as fellow fighters but as fellow friends. He must be understanding, compassionate, caring, among others. The need to understand another human is a daunting task, but a Fool possesses unlimited potential, and this should just be a just another stepping stone.
For it is only through the lovers that humans truly... meet.
