Game developers go through all the effort to create this wonderful bonus content for their game. They create elaborate dungeons, conjour up powerful bosses, and forge new weaponry like you've never seen before. Everything is awesome; they've fine tuned it all. The gear is making you drool and the bosses are practically taunting you to come fight them. The developers have really out done themselves. Or have they? To demonstrate what most of them do now, I present to you the late Chris Farley and his performance from "Tommy Boy."

Tommy: Hey, what's your name?
Helen: Helen.
Tommy: That's nice, you look like a Helen. Helen, we're both in sales. Let me tell you why I suck as a salesman. Let's say I go into a guy's office, let's say he's even remotely interested in buying something. Well then I get all excited. I'm like Jojo the idiot circus boy with a pretty new pet. Now the pet is my possible sale. Hello there pretty little pet, I love you. And then I stoke it, and I pet it, and I massage it. Hehe I love it, I love my little naughty pet, you're naughty. And then I take my naughty pet and I go *ripping noises as he tears apart a roll* Uuuuuuh. I killed it. I killed my sale. And that's when I blow it. That's when people like us have gotta forge ahead, Helen. Am I right?
Helen: God, you're sick.

Yes, they are sick. In the case of bonus content, developers are doing just that... blowing it. They add all of this awesome bonus content and then only make it available AFTER you've finished the main story line of the game. Let's say I've played around forty hours or more of an RPG to finally complete it only to be offered twenty more hours of optional content with no clear ending. Why would I do it? Yes, completionists likely enjoy this content, or still complete it whether they enjoy it or not. For a gamer that is playing an RPG for story content, why would they want to keep playing if nothing is added to the plot? I wouldn't. Not every game violates this, but so many do. This awesome new dungeon is pointless, because once I beat it, I have nothing else to do with all of the cool stuff I gained from it... except to play the dungeon again. I want something along the lines of the bonus dungeon that was added in Final Fantasy IV Advance where I could get new weapons for my extra characters BEFORE the end of the game. Yes, useful bonus content before the end of a game; I know that it's odd, but hey, I like it.

Developers, please stop wasting content. I want to play your content before I finish your game. I'm much rather have my playtime padded before the end of the main story. Thanks.
