Pokémon Online: The Beginning

Pokémon now spans four major worlds and several regions from spin-offs, don't you think it's time for the game to finally go in the direction that it was no doubt designed? The Pokémon MMORPG is not an original concept of mine by any means, in fact I'm pretty sure there is another editorial on RPGamer that probably outlines the same exact thing, but I like my ideas, and that's enough reason to tell the rest of the world about it too. Let's address the world of Pokémon first.

The game starts off with you choosing your region of the Pokémon world. Players have a choice to start their character in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh. Players will then start in the starter city for that region, and have a shot at one of the three starter Pokémon for that region. True collectors can return to this city, and obtain the other starters through quests. Immediately following that will be a few quests to collect a certain number of Pokémon. The world will of course be expandable, with expansion packs extending players to the spin-off regions of Orre, the Orange Islands, Sevii Islands, the Battle Frontier, and Fiore, with several new Pokémon per expansions. These expansions will be a Wii Shop download. Players can purchase cool "Pokémon SD Cards" if they do not have one large enough to hold the expansion.

Typically, Pokémon are indigenous to certain areas of the region, and there are several Pokémon games, with certain Pokémon being special to that color or gem. Not anymore! Now everyone can get a Vulpix, not just those who own Pokémon Blue. Now I'm just kidding of course, otherwise this wouldn't be Pokémon. However, instead of buying various colors of the same Pokémon game, you choose between two or three different servers. You are allowed to make a character on each server, but these characters that are bound to your account, are forbidden to trade with your other characters on different servers. This will promote interaction with other players to collect them all, or to get your favorite Pokémon. Items and money can be shared between servers via the PC . Now The Legendary Pokémon, will be specific to the servers, and the regions you live in, but the areas they live in are now mini-dungeons and are long solo quests.

Just like Pokémon Gold and Silver, you have to defeat the Elite Four of your region before you are allowed to travel to another city. Remember, that there are level caps in the land, where you must have a certain badge to control certain level Pokémon, and badges from other regions do not cross over, so you will have to start a new set of Pokémon or use some others from the PC. The goal is to collect all 32 gym badges, and the 16 elite four badges, and once you've finished this (which will take some time), there is still the prospect of collecting all of the Pokémon.

But that's only the world of Pokémon: the MMORPG, and just the beginning of what I have to say.
