REBUTTAL TO: Fragaphobia

While I do agree that Square Enix should add online multiplayer to their games, it will definitely come with a cost. Square, like any other company, likes to make money, but they are a little bit greedier than most of the competition. Yes, Dirge of Cerberus had online play in Japan, but you also needed the hard drive for the PS2 and to pay around ten bucks a month to play. It's harder to make players pay for online play on handhelds, and actually, I don't think any company has had the balls to do that yet. Maybe Microsoft will do it, whenever their so called handheld comes out. Square Enix likes to charge for every little thing they can. Now, I understand charging for Final Fantasy XI, but come on, charging for Dirge of Cerberus? Maybe if they hadn't charged for the online play, the Japanese servers would still be up, because obviously more people would at least try it out, or maybe not considering how horrible the game was. Square decided not to put it into the American version, because not that many people are proud owners of the PS2 hard drive like I am, and no one was seriously going to pay to play online.

I don't really see the point of adding online play to Dragon Quest IX, but then again I have no clue on what the multiplayer part of the game is like. RPGs that are meant to be played by one person should stay that way. I'd much rather have the development team work on extra side quests than some multiplayer crap that I really won't care for. It's beyond me why Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War or Advance 2 doesn't have online in it. Again, more likely the reason being Square can't make any money off of it. I really don't care either way. I like to be able to see my opponent's expression when I beat them. Also, I know if I playing a ten year-old or not so then I won't ever have come down with the disease know as Fragaphobia.
