Living For Rumors

STAFF EDITORIALIST

What keeps you going? Your most anticipated RPG is now beaten and behind you. You'd been waiting on it for what seemed like forever and now it has come and gone. What ever will you do? You now start looking ahead to what is coming out next.

Rumors are a big driving force for the gaming industry. How much will X cost? When will Y be released? Are they going to release another spin-off for Z? It's all in the anticipation. It causes debates, excitement, anger, and doubt. Rumors are by definition not solid information, but that's part of the enjoyment of them; waiting to see. Would that FFVII Tech Demo be a forerunner for a PS3 remake? No, but it sure did keep people excited. That's the best part of all; it still could be in the works. Anything is possible.

Rumors give us hope. That hope is sometimes shot down with the pain of reality, but there is always more hope. A lot of rumors start based on some sort of fact, but others appear out of thin air.

(Note: The following are untrue and not even current rumors) Final Fantasy VII is being fully remade on the PSP with voice acting. Dragon Warrior VIII is being ported to the Wii with Wii-mote controls. The DS is getting a new Shining Force tactical RPG. PS3 is going to get Lunar 3.

None of that is true. Those aren't even actual rumors, but if they were people everywhere would be excited regardless of the truth or likelihood. Anticipation is the name of the game and that's the game that keeps RPGamers interested.
