by EE The idea of majoring in gaming may seem absurd, but it's slowly becoming reality. Irvine University in California has taken a step and made gaming part of their cirriculum. Though you can get a Bachelor's in gaming, what good is it? Other than the obvious choice of being employed by gaming companies, there are opportunities in other fields that relate to gaming. Want to be an engineer? The Incredible Machine will get you thinking. Dream of being a pilot? Flight sims can have most the details without the danger. Politics your forte? Simcity is all about keeping the people happy and you in office. Like teaching history? Civilization is a great tutor. Think you could be a military commander? Study the past in games like PTO. Have a love of writing? Get inspiration by RPGs. Though the possibilities of gaming-related careers is immense currently, others may see it differently. How can a 'child's media' fit into the professional world of sophistication? Is this a desperation move by colleges to attract students? Is this a joke? Tell the world what you think. |
