Comments on "Roles of Final Fantasy Women"

I'll be doing a lot of quoting in this, so deal. It's also my opinion, as a woman, and a gamer.

Final Fantasy lacks originality and respect for the women in their games. For example: Tifa is a body builder/martial arts woman with a six pack but looks like she would wear a 34DDD bra, which isn't naturally possible, she should be nearly flat. I find this quite degrading to women, and young girls that see their older brothers going gaga over characters like these.

This is what Meagan wrote. Now, I agree, Tifa's bust size is outrageous - I've never seen a woman with breasts that large unless they were fake. But I also know that the Japanese anime craze lends itself to that perfectly. So do current trends. A bustline that size is very easilly the "in thing".

You're trying to force your opinion on people. Even if these stereotypes are true, not too many people care. Besides, what's FF rated? Teen? They've a right to draw one of their characters with a large bustline.

4) You obviously don't know much about women's underwear. Tifa is, at most, a small C-cup. 34DDD? Come on. Give me a break. She's more likely a larger B-cup.

THIS is the comment from Drome. Now...really...honestly...this is amusing. I can easilly point out that Tifa's at least in the large C section. B? Fat chance. Also, you're approach to a rebuttal is disgusting. You're defending all of the points in this with such fervor that you've almost proven her point for her. You're also reduced to insults, if anything else. Think out a rebuttalbefore you go and post anything...

FF8 is filled with strong, well-written, true-to-life females, as well... the strongest character so far (I haven't finished the game) is Edea, a woman. I could go on, I could bring up more examples, I could support those examples as well as the ones I've provided more fully, but I need not.

While I'll agree with you somewhat when it comes to the FF8 women, I'm only 50% in the favor of the game designers on this one. Rinoa and Selphie, frankly, made me ill. Rinoa got better throughout the game, but Selphie always reminded me of the little cheerleaders I'd sit near in High School - oversexed and way too damn perky.

She is, in all respects, the typical anime chick who's head is too full of air to see straight.
Not to mention anyone who wears bright yellow suspenders needs to be dragged out into the street and promptly shot in the forehead. Many, many times. However...

I disagree with Meagan on several fronts. Quistis and Edea were prime example of strong women who were more interested with other things than simply glomming on to a male. Just because a woman has a crush on one of the male characters, it's...well...a natural story arch, and a slice-of-life aspect that most of these games take. FF8 did it better than others.

And Edea...explains herself, pretty much ^_^
