While it may be fun to bash god-awful games like Beyond the Beyond and Final Fantasy VII until the point where they're six feet under ground, it's not very nice, and besides it DOES spoil our gaming experience. I'm not saying that we SHOULDN'T complain when we shell out cash for some overly priced, sub-standard piece of crap. We just shouldn't nitpick until we've destroyed the fun of the game for not only ourselves, but for everyone who has had the unfortunate luck to come across our poorly founded tirades. It's different to say that Xenogears could have been a better game if the dubbing had been better, than to post messages across the 'net about how Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete sucked because it was based on the moon and everyone knows that there's no life on the moon. In conclusion, we SHOULD complain when Square, or Enix or some other company sells us an overly hyped piece of garbage, or when it's a simple statement of a fact. However, we SHOULD NOT complain when our reasons are prejudiced or poorly founded (i.e. "I don't like Kartia because it's an Ogre Battle rip off"). If we limit our complaining to simply griping about REAL problems in the games, we're sure to give ourselves a MUCH better gaming experience. |
