T'is better to have played an RPG than to have 'lived'

by Mattler Mao

I can't fathom why Lalee Carter would be offended by someone who thinks that mainstream high school culture is dumb. The point is, they think the same thing about video game nerds. Chase Davis has every right to think that his interests are superior to theirs, because they treat him the same way.

The truth is, I can't stand the smelly comic-book shop types who don't shower. But jocks bother me even more. Their idea of "living" is to stand up and cheer at pep rallies, pick on freshmen, and give and recieve pinkbellies in the football locker room. They have this social "survival of the fittest" mentality, where they have to prove they're better than everyone else. They do this by wearing Hilfiger, going to all the dances, and making an art of humiliating people they dislike.

That's all greek to me. I never understood them, so naturally I don't like them. Sure, everyone can get offended at what I just said. But popular people don't like me because I like rpg's, even though I'm not one of those smelly comic book shop types. It's just that rpg's are foreign to them, so they don't get it.

My opinion is that rpg's are better than the typical interests. Yes, maybe it sounds antisocial, and maybe it offends the people who "live." But this is what I know and understand. Everyone has different interests and they naturally think their interests are better. No one has a real right to be offended. To each his own.
