Why Bashing Chrono Cross is very ignorant

by Elliott Campbell

Ever since the first few pictures rolled in for Chrono Cross, the sequel to Chrono Trigger, there has been much controversy, and sadly, most people are bashing the game, wither its because of the character art, graphics, or 3D perspective.

Bashing Chrono Cross, or for that matter any game before its release is very ignorant. For one, the most important elements of an RPG, in my opinion and most of us RPG gamers (just look at that RPGamer poll completed a few months ago) is sound and Plot line (Story). Looking at Chrono Cross doesn?t even give us a clue of the story, and unless you have some type of super power, you can't hear anything coming from your speakers. The bottom line is all of these people who are bashing this game have almost nothing to base their criticisms on.

Change has always been an element of video games. As technology gets better, and evolves, so do the graphics of new RPG's (for the most part anyway). Keeping this in mind, it?s hard to understand why people would be disappointed in the 3D graphics in Chrono Cross. They look sharp, and so what if they are 3D?, what game isn?t these days anyway with the exception of maybe Lunar, which is a remake to being with.

What is with this no Crono business? I mean, when was the last time Square brought over one of its characters for a sequel? Other then Cid, (which in my opinion, is a different character in ever Final Fantasy) there are really no other character's, unless you talk about Tifa, Sephiroth and Cloud, which all say some game time, on non sequel type games.

To conclude, I thank you for reading my Editorial, and if you are a Chrono basher your self remember to base your thoughts on future game's by game play, and not so much on some poorly scanned images.
