by Eddie Hatef Hey, let's compromise..lets see, Sony makes bad games, Sega has bad systems..and..Nintendo has nothing bad! Yes? No. I just ready Kendra-K?s letter on ?Which system is better? and I am outraged. The whole editorial is unjust and unfair. You try to compromise by having a fairness between systems, but then again you say Sony makes bad games? I will simply give some reasonable judgements here.. Sony, has bad games? That is quite the opposite of what is true. With games like Final Fantasy 7, 8, Resident Evil series, Silent Hill, Tetris DX, Jet Moto, Crash Bandicoot, and Gran Turismo...yeah, no variety of games and they suck, don't they? (Sarcasm) Sony had good games, an OK system, and bad marketing..but they don't need any, for after all..they are Sony! Sega, has bad systems, eh? Sega Dreamcast has a capability of Playstation and Nintendo64 combined. The SegaCD had great capability, but never sold due to the bad marketing, advertisement, and prices. The Genises, again, actual system is great. But here we go, an opinion- I believe Sega Dreamcast the system is the ultimate one, but will not be successful due to the worst timing of release. PSX2 will come out 1 year after, no one will buy a system that will be ruling for only a year. The games are not all too good either, they are just graphic blessed, I read reviews and they don't sound too fun in gameplay , the variety of the game, and innovation. Ahh..and here we come to Nintendo. Marketing..is good, although they show no screen shots but they try to persuade a person through propoganda. (For instance. Smash Bros commericial had only real life puppets fighting..only about 3 screen shots..and they were shows for a split second) But their games..they have dumped quality over quantity rule. There are so many games being rushed, they lose their quality. N64's game's are not all too good either, while the system is GREAT. Take for instance, Quest64. Had capablities to be as fun as Zelda, but then they rushed it to be out by Summer's end. There are so many empty rooms in that game...and look at the ending! That is why there can't be an "Agreement" between rival gamers who are loyal to one system- it's their type of flavor. A system is not even to another system because one had bad games and good system (good graphics, weak gameplay), and the other had good games and bad system. (normal graphics, great gameplay)Some people have entirely missed the point. Besides all this, companies need to rival to earn more profit. And we need them to rival, or if they were one big company, games would cost over 60 dollars apiece, unlike their 40 dollars for N64 games. Dreamcast would have cost 300-400 bucks, because there would be nothing else to get, and gamers would get it because there is nothing else to get! So next time you try to make a compromise here and there, remember, an argument can widen someone elses perspective and have them make a wiser decision. Think about it..Wouldn't you argue with someone if they said it's better to have unofficial hardware than official hardware? They probably do not know unofficial is not reliable, and within the argument, they gain the knowledge. Original Editorial: Which system is better? |
