Why Editorials are Important

by Joshua Maciel

Editorials are really important. Everyone should send them. Why? Because Editorials do three really important things. First of all, they make us all think of things that we don't get a chance to think of on our own. Second of all, they can get you in touch with people with same or different interests and/or beliefs, which will make you develop your thoughts further. Third of all, they make the Editorial guy feel good about his job, and make him feel like Lore and Thor -- useful and loved.

Have you ever had a thought that you just kept thinking about, but never really got until you wrote it down, or talked it out with someone? Well, generally I find those two things important. I have an idea, but it never really gets developed until I sit down and hammer it out with someone, or put a blank page in front of me. So I highly suggest that you write down those thoughts, and share them with people, because it can really help you develop ideas you have.

Once you get that written down, you can get other people to read it. Editorials are great venues through which to do that. People will read your editorial, and more often than not in my experience, you get responses. Those responses help you further clarify your point, think more about it, and make better conclusions than before. You also get other people to think about your points, which is a great thing to do, because it raises overall awareness of everyone involved. Which is always good :)

Finally, see the good ol' guy you email these suckers to? Michael Greenhut -- he's a person too. We should all make him feel good by sending him things in, and showing our appreciation. He's a good guy doing a tough job, so why not make him feel loved like the rest of the people who update stuff on a regular basis for us? Now I know some of you are saying, "But he doesn't update weekly!" Well that's because we aren't sending him enough stuff! We need to help him out, lest he feels unloved and neglected.

So help yourself get your opinions/thoughts down on paper. Think about them more. Have other people think about them. Have them talk to you. Talk to them. Think about them even more. And the entire time, you're giving another human bean a warm fuzzy feeling. Life's grand when you're a popular editorial guy :)
